Hi, we're Alo Consultation!
We are thrilled to be writing this first-ever Alo Newsletter to you, dear community member! Some of you have very intentionally shared your email address with us hoping for more connection, and some of you may be wondering who we are. We’d love to introduce ourselves and share more about our latest public HCBS workshops coming to an area near you and about a never-before-seen, interactive online HCBS training for DSPs that will get them ready to advocate and try new things!
For the past couple of years, we have been busy working mostly with regional centers, giving workshops and trainings to service providers, regional center staff, family members and disabled adults. We are still working with regional centers (more on that in future newsletters!) and are now shifting into some new territory.
We have spent countless hours intentionally creating these resources that we think will support you and the DSPs that you work with as you continue to get into better alignment with HCBS. In our newsletters, you can expect us to share our company’s offerings, of course! But, we will also be sharing resources, tips, videos and more. We share everything with transparency and as much humility as we can give you. We’ll let you in on what we’re hearing and seeing across the field and our real, honest and compassionate take on it, straight from our hearts and heads, without any sugar-coating!
Our company, Alo Consultation, is a consultation and training agency located in Northern California and serving all of California and the U.S. We are a small but mighty agency, constantly learning from those around us and also offering our knowledge from the field.
Jacqueline Lawton is one of the co-founders and has 19 years of experience working in this field: in day program settings, the special education classroom, in international contexts, and as a regional center QA Specialist and HCBS Specialist. Jacqueline and our other co-founder, Kaitlin Olson, met while they were in Quality Assurance at a regional center together. Kaitlin also has experience in both residential and day program settings, with a Masters Degree in Education and a keen eye and heart for social justice.
