Launch Day - Grateful to be here: a short story

Today is the day we launch our website and go live and public.

To honor this special day of launching our new website and new offerings, I’d like to take a moment to share a bit of how we got here.

Here at Alo, we have had the rare experience of not having to do much marketing at all in the first two years of business. Shortly after we launched in 2022, the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) announced that there would be Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) funding for regional centers to use. It was going to be different from previous years where the funding was only for service provider HCBS-alignment and compliance. This time around, it would be for regional centers to come up with creative projects to support their entire catchment area addressing different stakeholders and audiences. We have had the opportunity to work with numerous regional centers across the state of California because of this HCBS funding and are still working with many.

The past couples of years have felt incredible!

We have learned so much about ourselves personally and professionally and have also learned so much from this community. From disabled adults receiving services, parents, service coordinators, state department colleagues and other consultants, and of course service providers, the community members we have had the opportunity to work and learn with have helped get us here, to this special moment.

For a while now, we have been dreaming up even more educational and experiential offerings to support learning about HCBS. Now, in addition to working in-person and virtually with regional centers and other large agencies, we are moving into online learning and also offering our in-person workshops to the general public.

With all of that being said, we are excited to announce the launch of our new website, a new in-person HCBS workshop tour, an incredible online and interactive HCBS training that will rock your world and a new Community of Professionals Facebook group.

I want to give a massive thank you to everyone who helped get us here: our families and friends, our incredible Alo Staff, our regional center partners who have trusted us along the way, our private clients, and everyone else who has cheered us on.

Thank you for being here, we are so honored to get to do this work.
